The call of the eider welcomes you to eiderco.
When you shop with us you can be safe in the knowledge that you are helping towards the future of our beautiful coast and its wildlife as we give a percentage of our profit to marine and coastal conservation.
We consider ourselves very fortunate to be based close to the Northumberland Heritage Coast - one of the most spectacular coastlines in the UK – this, together with a fascination with the eider since childhood reading of the books of naturalist and author Gavin Maxwell, provide the inspiration for eiderco.
Our products are of a quality that raises them above being just a souvenir, to something that can be used everyday - a conversation piece which speaks of this wild and beautiful part of the British coast.
Eider duck live in colonies and our brand name eiderco is short for ‘eider colony’. Our label tells a story of the eider living on the Northumberland Heritage Coast and their link to Lindisfarne (Holy Island) and St. Cuthbert. Nobody’s perfect – but we do try hard not to impact on our environment. We must be realistic about manufacturing in today’s global economy, but where we can we will make the most of the UK’s talent.
We start with good design and then put something back… by
- …donating a percentage of our profits to marine and coastal projects.
- …using packaging which can be recycled and from sustainable sources whenever possible such as FSC accredited card for labels and flyers and we avoid plastic, which finds its way into the sea, onto the beaches and all too often into the stomachs of sea creatures with disastrous consequences.
- …supporting tourism. We want you to enjoy the beauty and tranquillity of the coast for generations to come. It would be counter productive to lose it!
